Blog Posting

What is a Blog and how does it help my business in terms of site optimization?

A blog is one type of website usually maintained by an individual or a business with regular entries of commentary, description of events and other materials such as graphics or video. It is an essential tool in SEO marketing strategy that can gain more targeted website traffic. Improving your blog  will greatly improve your search engine rankings too.  It is best to  research the right keywords, use the right title and create links to achieve high traffic results.

4 Secrets to Increasing your Internet Marketability

With the advent of the Internet, more and more people are incorporating their lifestyles into this virtual world.  Everything is now being done online: enrolling for classes, attending webinars or web seminars, setting appointments, and even shopping.  There is a huge virtual market to be reached and what better way to do so than by putting up your business online.

There are a number of ways to generate website traffic but here are the 4 most effective strategies to make consumers come to you:

Keyword Research – Your business should have a set of specific keywords linked to it.  It’s all about understanding how people search for a certain object.  If a search is done for “curry recipe” or “southern style curry recipe” the listings for those would be different depending on how sites are structured after those keywords.

It is best to stick to 2-5 keywords or phrases.  Just 1 word would be too general and too many would be confusing.

Site Optimization – A search engine optimized website has a greater chance of getting high visibility to web surfers.  Basically, if a person looks for a certain word – let’s say real estate – a search engine like Google will generate a list of real estate related websites for the person to choose from.  This list can be anywhere from 10 to a thousand listings.  Of course a person will prefer to visit a website that is readily accessible meaning any listing on the first few pages has better chance of getting his attention.

Optimizing your website to search engine specifications requires a lot of detail and high quality web content.  Use the most effective and specific keywords when creating your site.  Encode your keyword/s:  Page Titles, <h> tags, internal links, and website copy. Post search engine optimized articles on your site.  These should contain information relevant to your business.  Make it interesting and keyword rich to catch your reader’s and search engine spiders’ attention.  Do this effectively and your website is sure to land on the first few pages if not on the 1st page itself.

Strategic Analysis – Understanding what your niche market wants to see is the key to high conversion.  Now that you have traffic flowing to your website, make sure that they stay there for as long as it takes them to actually buy your products.  If there is a low ratio of conversion, ask yourself “What makes them leave right away?”

There are different kinds of tools that can actually measure a visitor’s length of stay on a certain page on your website, the last page they were on, and even the last link they clicked on.  By gathering this data you can make a study on what makes them lose interest.  It could be a misplaced banner ad that turned them off.  Perhaps lack of pictures that could better describe your business.  Or maybe your website isn’t that easy to navigate through.  All these will help you understand what consumers want to see and even turn them into loyal customers.

Link Building – Your website is not the only way to get customers. You can actually use other websites to drive traffic to your own.  Link building is the process of leaving your digital footprint on other sites to further increase your visibility. Link building to other high traffic sites is a good way to increase your own visitors. Linking to your niche market relevant sites can generate additional pre-qualified traffic to yours.

Getting into the top listings is easy.  It’s staying there that’s hard work.  Make sure your website is always up-to-date in terms of content, layout and marketing strategies and stay one step ahead of your competitors.

Website Design / Redesign

An effective website can build and help increase traffic in any business. But content is a million times more important than presentation. If you have irrelevant contents, doing everything right with your design is not going to compel readers to your site. With a good content, browsers are sure to get interested and might even completely ignore truly bad design.

Search engines normally don’t index a website based on its good layout, but for great content. As they say –  ”Content is King”. An experienced and reliable web design company will provide you insights on designs with minimal cost yet bring extra visitors. They will develop a site after a thorough understanding of your company’s objective and give you a detailed analysis of your potential market. In designing a website, having too many images does not help as well.  A website that sells should be simple and easy to use in all aspects. With the day by day competition which is quite going strong, web designs are getting more and more technical. The demand of internet has grown to its maximum. Taking all these in consideration, demand for good designs for the web has also increased and has become difficult and complicated.

E-mail Marketing

Email Marketing, as the name suggests, is the use of email in marketing communications.

What sort of email?

In its broadest sense, the term covers every email you ever send to a customer, potential customer or public venue. In general, though, it’s used to refer to:

Sending direct promotional emails to try and acquire new customers or persuade existing customers to buy again Sending emails designed to encourage customer loyalty and enhance the customer relationship Placing your marketing messages or advertisements in emails sent by other people Give me an analogy…

You can think of these three main forms of email marketing as the electronic equivalent of:

Direct mail

Sending people a print newsletter Placing advertisements in subscription magazines and newspapers There is, however, one extremely important difference – the issue of permission (see later).

Why is email marketing so popular?

Email marketing is so popular because…

Sending email is much cheaper than most other forms of communication email lets you deliver your message to the people (unlike a website, where the people have to come to your message) email marketing has proven very successful for those who do it right For more information, see the article Why do email marketing?.

Let’s briefly review the three types of email marketing:

1. Direct email

Direct email involves sending a promotional message in the form of an email. It might be an announcement of a special offer, for example. Just as you might have a list of customer or prospect postal addresses to send your promotions too, so you can collect a list of customer or prospect email addresses.

You can also rent lists of email addresses from service companies. They’ll let you send your message to their own address lists. These services can usually let you target your message according to, for example, the interests or geographical location of the owners of the email address.

2. Retention email

Instead of promotional email designed only to encourage the recipient to take action (buy something, sign-up for something, etc.), you might send out retention emails.

These usually take the form of regular emails known as newsletters. A newsletter may carry promotional messages or advertisements, but will aim at developing a long-term impact on the readers. It should provide the readers with value, which means more than just sales messages. It should contain information which informs, entertains or otherwise benefits the readers.

3. Advertising in other people’s emails

Instead of producing your own newsletter, you can find newsletters published by others and pay them to put your advertisement in the emails they send their subscribers. Indeed, there are many email newsletters that are created for just this purpose – to sell advertising space to others.

Where’s the catch?

This all sounds great of course. Imagine how much cheaper it is to send a message to thousands of email addresses, rather than thousands of postal addresses!

It’s not that simple, unfortunately. Quite apart from the complexities of designing and delivering email messages to the right people, getting them to actually read and respond to your message, and measuring and analysing the results, there is the issue of permission.

What’s “permission”?

Responsible email marketing is based on the idea of permission. This is a complex issue and the subject of intense debate in the marketing community.

Essentially, you need an email address owner’s permission before you can send them a commercial email. If you don’t have this permission, then the recipients of your mail may well regard your message as spam; unsolicited commercial (bulk) email.

You do not want to send spam!

If you are accused of sending spam, then you may find your email accounts closed down, your website shut off, and your reputation in tatters. In some parts of the world, you may even be breaking the law.

Quite apart from these practical considerations, there is also a strong argument which says that long-term successful email marketing relationships with customers and others can only work anyway if they’re permission based.

The big question, of course, is what constitutes permission…and that is the main subject of debate. It’s important to remember that it’s not your views, or even the views of the majority, that count, but the views of those receiving your emails and those responsible for administering the infrastructure of the Internet.

An example of permission is when your customer buys something from your online store and also ticks a box marked “please send me news about product updates via email”. You now have “permission” to send that person product updates by email, provided you also give them the opportunity to rescind that permission at any time.

Educate yourself

It’s important to stress that anyone considering email marketing must read up on the subject of permission and spam. If you don’t understand the importance of permission and the risks of ignoring it, then you could be heading for commercial disaster.

Don’t panic, though. It’s actually relatively easy to ensure that the address lists you use or build yourself are permission-based.

OK, now that you’re armed with some brief background information, browse the rest of this site to find the resources you need to develop a better understanding of how email marketing can work for you and your (potential) customers. Or to speed things up, try some of these

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is a revenue sharing venture between a website owner and an online merchant. The website owner will place advertisements on his websites to either help sell the merchant’s products or to send potential customers to the merchant’s website, all in exchange for a share of the profits.

Three (3) ways to earn money through affiliate marketing:

  1. Pay Per Click — Every time a potential customer leaves the affiliate website by “clicking” on the link leading to the merchant’s website, a certain amount of money is deposited in the affiliate’s account. This amount can be pennies or dollars depending on the product and amount of the commission.
  2. Pay Per Sale — Every time a sale is made as a result of advertising on the affiliate’s website, a percentage, or commission, is deposited into the affiliate’s account.
  3. Pay Per Lead — Every time a potential client registers at the merchant’s website as a result of the advertisement on the affiliate’s account, a previously determined amount is deposited into the affiliate’s account.

For many website owners, this is a great way to earn some extra money without actually having to “do” anything. All it involves is placing an ad on the affiliate’s website. There’s no selling or promotion of any kind. The affiliate can just sit back and wait for the profits to roll in.

It’s also beneficial to the merchant. By placing affiliate marketing advertising on websites all over the Internet, he has free advertising and doesn’t need to do much selling on his own. The more websites a merchant is affiliated with, the more exposure his products get, and all he has to do is allow ads for his products to appear on someone else’s website.

While affiliate marketing has its benefits, there are also a few cons. For instance, the merchant has to share the profits with an outside party. If an affiliate uses unsavory means to bring customers to his website and sell the merchant’s products, the merchant will also have to contend with doing a little damage control on his reputation.

The affiliate has to do thorough research on the merchant before agreeing to affiliation. To not do so can mean ending up with a merchant who refuses to pay commission fees or packs up his business and moves on without informing any of his affiliates. This is rare, however, and most merchants and affiliates have a pleasant and profitable business arrangement.

It’s important to choose wisely. In some cases, an ad can be placed on an affiliate’s website for months before a potential customer “clicks” or purchases something. If the commission is only pennies, this can lead to a frustrating relationship. Both the affiliate and the merchant are well advised to ensure the relationship will be mutually beneficial.

Affiliate Marketing is considered one of the best ways to earn money online. If this is an avenue you wish to pursue, you’d be well advised to research each merchant thoroughly. After that, there’s not much else to do except wait for the profits to roll in!
